Phoenix Technology Group, the Irish
financial software provider, is to roll out e², its
content management and eprocess solution to
200 administrators throughout Personal Pension
Management limited (PPML).
Dublin November 2002 - PPML is the
specialist pension administrator within Winterthur Life,
the UK based financial services arm of Credit Suisse Group.
PPML has a 35% share of the Self Invested Personal Pensions
(SIPP) market, with in excess of 20,000 SIPPs under management.
According to Matthew Lucas, Senior Business
Manager for PPML "Storage costs were getting out of hand
so we needed to remove the paper from our customer service
processes. Through scanning and indexing, all customer communication
(letter, fax, email, eform) will be captured into a central
repository in Phoenix e² imaging and workflow system.
Policy files will be immediately accessible to administrators
from the desktop, the time taken to complete many tasks
will be greatly reduced".
Added Mr. Lucas "Flexibility in the process
mapping tools within e² have allowed us to automate
complex business processes across different teams and departments.
The key business functions that will be supported are: SIPP
Administration, Property Administration, Income Drawdown,
Reconciliation and Technical Compliance.
Due to a highly competitive and regulated
environment, a key requirement for PPML was that managers
gain tight control and the ability to maintain consistency
and compliance over work in progress. "The fundamental principle
of the e² solution is to deliver a set of applications
directly to the business so business managers can configure
and manage the organisational processes, service levels
and workloads. The Phoenix solution will reduce the time
taken to create, handle and process transactions, it also
enables PPML to create new processes so that new products
can be brought to market quickly" commented Niall Clarke,
Chief Technology Officer, Phoenix Technology Group
"Using e² configurable rules-based system,
we have chosen to distribute work on a "Push" basis according
to certain parameters such as a user's team, skillset, product
line or the priority of certain work. The administrators
will not need to spend time collating files and organising
their daily workload, they can simply complete the next
task in their work queue, while our managers can be assured
that the customers service levels will be met" said Lucas.
The system supports both in-house and remote
workers through web-based and Windows NT client-server applications.
For the majority of cases, either a team or individual administrator
handles a plan from application to final claim, except where
certain steps need to be processed by another user or department
e.g. an authorisation step. Case management functionality
will also be applicable for remote workers through the creation
of virtual teams.
Developed using Phoenix's workflow engine
and Oracle's 9i database, e² integrates with PPML's
line of business applications - LISA from WMS (Wealth Management
Systems) and an in-house developed Property Administration
System. The user need only work from one interface to complete
all tasks with no need for 'screen hopping'. "The implementation
is being carried out on a set timescale and a fixed price
basis, we are set to 'Go live' on December 06 2002" said
Lucas.
