FirstAssist selects Phoenix
Technology Group to design and implement a Content and Business
Process Management solution for two sites.
Dublin, June 28 2004...
Phoenix Technology Group Ltd today announces
that it has been selected by FirstAssist, the healthcare
and well-being provider, to deliver its mission critical
Content and Business Process Management solution. This latest
investment by FirstAssist will support its goal of offering
customers a next generation service. The solution will be
used to upgrade the systems for two service centers in Bournemouth
and Plymouth.
As a result of the management buy-out from
Royal & SunAlliance (RSA), FirstAssist rented RSA's systems,
there was a time limit to which they could continue to do
this. FirstAssist took this opportunity to implement a suite
of applications to support the business, based on the Oracle
platform. Phoenix Technology Group is the software developer
and systems integrator chosen to help FirstAssist implement
a content and business process management solution to work
alongside its main policy administration and claims handling
business applications.
A project in two phases: phase 1 replaced
the existing imaging system that interfaces to the R&SA
legacy systems, helping FirstAssist move to a modern network
infrastructure; phase 2 provides a more strategic business
process management solution, that integrates with the new
business systems, allowing full separation from R&SA.
Firstly, the project involved a PDW® (Project
Development Workshop), Phoenix worked closely with FirstAssist's
management team to re-examine existing imaging systems and
related business processes to determine what would be required
to replace them. The old solution could not be easily integrated
with FirstAssists new line of business systems.
Phoenix product based process management solution
e2, and image repository based on Oracle Content
Management SDK on a 9i Application Server, fitted the bill
exactly. Some more bespoke customisation also allows for
capture and indexing functionality. Phoenix experience in
fixed cost and fixed timescale implementations enabled FirstAssist
to stick to very aggressive timescales, by the end of phase
two, all 300 users were up and running on the new system.
The solution is designed to integrate with
all FirstAssist's existing line of business systems (e.g.
policy management and claims systems) to create an electronic
and virtual single view of all customer data. As part of
the project Phoenix will also manage a major conversion
exercise to move existing images from the old RSA repository
into the newly developed one.
Commented Mitch Lambton, IT Director, FirstAssist
"The key drivers in selecting Phoenix were their ability
to deliver the solution very quickly at a fixed cost. The
work management features in e2 such as e2
Workload Balancer enable managers to focus on improving
team productivity and avoid potential bottlenecks. Also
e2 quality assurance features assist us in meeting
FSA compliance standards" Added Lambton "Also scanning and
indexing improvements allow our people to focus on tasks
that directly service the customer"
Commented Brenda Reilly, Sales and Marketing
Director for Phoenix Technology Group "We are delighted
to be working with FirstAssist, our relationships with the
key people involved go back to before FirstAssist's creation.
Its great that we continue to build on our relationships
with important strategists and project managers, in addition
to expanding on our Oracle expertise, in this instance,
design and development for Oracle Content Manager"
